TOMORROW'S WORLD IS ALREADY HERE

A serious topic for today:

Sometimes there seems to be very little difference between the countries in the extreme East and extreme West of the EU.

In the UK you're fingerprinting 5-year-olds in the name of anti-terrorism; in Poland we're compiling databases of teenage pregnancies and "problem pupils" (where a "problem pupil" is any kid a teacher thinks is a problem pupil).

But here's the difference. Despite occasional slips like the ones I mentioned above (introduced by an insane ultra-Catholic education minister), which won't last very long, Poland's moving in the opposite direction, towards more freedom. Britain seems to be sliding towards a kind of totalitarianism where the State knows everything about everyone.

In 50 years' time, assuming the planet last lasts that long, the UK press, or whatever replaces it, will be forever writing stories about how X was actually a secret collaborator with MI5, how there's a network of ex-agents in power (replacing the old boy network) and so on.

It really should be stopped.

It most certainly should! But how?

I may well not be here in five years' time, probably not in 15, and definitely not in 50. Thank goodness.

Have they targeted Bradford as well ?

One would hope so, but I doubt it. 'Positive discrimination' is I think the NuLab-speak.

The fingerprinting of children has been going on for a while.
If the technology exists it will be used.
I saw, only this week, that Skype are intending to offer, as part of their enhanced system for 'voice calls', a free lie detection facility!!
Now, it is not too big a jump to suggest that maybe BT has similar technology.
Bearing in mind that the Americans automatically monitor every British phone call as part of the 'War of Terror', it leaves you wondering just how far things have already gone. Soon you will only be able to have a private conversation Burqua to Burqua.
(As an aside, could fingerprinting of children be construed as common assault?)

Well, it was possible, less than 20 years ago, to stop the Poll Tax in its tracks. Surely it shouldn't be beyond the wit of man to stop nonsense like this.

Failing that, if it can't be stopped, make it unusable. File so much false information that any such databases can't be trusted.

Just wait now that germany has the EU stuff and that Maggie Winklelbarmy gets her way.
Be Prepared.

It may not be beyond peoples' wits, but they no longer seem to have the will to either stop or sabotage this or any other outrage perpetrated against our civil liberties since 9/11.

If I might post a link to my own site, there's a quotation by Hermann Goering, of all people, which explains precisely why people don't have the will.

Thanks for the comment, anticant. It tickled my interest, so I left a response there.

Eye-opener "1984" ? On not a faraway day we'll have telescreens in our houses, thoughtpolice in our streets, and newspeak dictionaries and text books to learn from.

After a mis-timed trip on a bus yesterday, covered in schoolkids I think the little bastards should be tagged and gagged.

Too late they have been.
